Comments:
After attending college for a few years I was an airline stewartess for TWA based out of Chicago. I married in 1964 to Jim Detrick who was an officer in the Air Force. We were married at St Anselm's; moved to Illinois for a few months; back to Marin and from there moved to France for two years (had my first child in France);, England for one year, and then to Cupertino, and eventually to Santa Rosa where I have lived for 40 years. We took advantage of the three years in Europe and did lots of traveling. After moving back to California I was lucky enough to be able to stay at home for 15 years and raise my three children. From that point to the present I have primarily worked for the school system. I love what I do and the kids and friends I work with, and so plan on staying put until it is no longer fun.
My three children are married and have all stuck close to home. We could walk to each others' houses if we were so enclined. I have 7 grandchildren whom I see almost daily. Debbie, my oldest, has a 14 yr old son and 12 year old daughter. Doug, my son, has a 4 year old daughter and 1 year old son, and my youngest daughter Jennifer, has a 5 year old son and 2 year old twins (boy & girl). My children and grandchildren are the bright lights in my life and I consider myself so blessed.
I suppose I would have to say that aside from my family my passion is the Mexican culture. I have traveled to Mexico and lived with families in an effort to learn their language and customs, and my husband and I usually take a couple trips a year to Mexico. We have been doing this for the last 20 years or so. I'm still not fluent in Spanish, but if grades for effort were given I should get an A, but you know - one can only do so much with a few dim brain cells. And so on that note, I'll say good bye for now.
Oh, and one more thing. I loved my two years at Marin Catholic, and absolutely loved all my friends and look back on that time with the fondest of memories.
